A Rotary member since 2007, Maureen received support from Rotary’s Grants for University Teachers program that allowed her to spend three months in the Amazon in 2008. She also helped establish her current club, the Rotary E-Club of San Diego Global, California, USA.
Maureen served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Brazil and has worked as a health care systems analyst, a special education teacher, a counselor, a university instructor and administrator, and vice president of workforce development.
She has degrees in Spanish, Portuguese, counseling, and computer programming. She says her education and work experience have given her a broad and compassionate perspective when reviewing Rotary grant projects.
Maureen joined the Cadre in 2011 and has reviewed more than 13 projects, in Bolivia, Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Thailand. She enjoys developing friendships with host clubs during Cadre site visits and using ideas from one project to improve another.
